TAP-111
: Trouble Clearing
22. Replace OLIU at far-end (DLP-523). If trouble does not clear, trouble is in
incoming optical fiber.
23. STOP. YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROCEDURE.
24.
NOTE:
Remember that the OC-3 line protection switching request is
unidirectional. It is possible to have a lighted FAULT LED on an OLIU and
still have that OLIU active (for example, if the transmitter failed, the
receiver could still be receiving). It is necessary to analyze the lighted or
flashing OLIU LEDs before replacing an OLIU. If the ACTIVE LED is
lighted on an OLIU, it is in service (ACTIVE) either transmitting or
receiving or both. It may be necessary to perform a switch-line: at
the near end and at the far end to switch both transmit and receive to the
same line.
Is FAULT LED lighted or flashing on both service and protection OLIUs?
If NO, then continue with Step 25.
If YES, then proceed to Step 32.
25. Is ACTIVE LED lighted on OLIUs with lighted FAULT LEDs?
If YES, then continue with Step 26.
If NO, then proceed to Step 27.
26. Use CIT and rtrv-state-eqpt: command to check switch status at both
ends of the system. Use CIT and switch-line: command to reset switch
and switch both near-end and far-end lines to OLIUs without lighted FAULT
LED.
27.
NOTE:
Local procedures may require you to check optical fibers first before
replacing OLIUs.
Replace OLIUs with lighted FAULT LEDs.
Reference: DLP-523
28. Did trouble clear?
If YES, then STOP. YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROCEDURE.
If NO, then continue with Step 29.
