in-service upgrade. Experienced Lucent Technologies
installers will help you plan and execute the network
upgrade. For more information, contact your Lucent
Technologies Account Representative.
NOTE:
This procedure is completed in a series of node upgrades
beginning at the near end (Node 1 CO), then going to the
last RT Node (RTn) and sequentially upgrading each
DDM-2000 to a ring until you get back to the near end Node
1. The first steps of this procedure performed between Node
1 (CO) and Node 2 (the first RT) use an optical splitter to
convert the two nodes into a ring configuration. This part of
the procedure is similar to a point-to-point to ring upgrade.
Use the rtrv-alm: command to verify that no alarms, locks,
loops, or switches are present.
2.
Notify maintenance center that alarms will be generated.
3.
NOTE:
The Network Side/User Side parameters of the
set-fecom: command must be set opposite at each end of
the optical spans.
Use the rtrv-fecom/set-fecom command to verify/set
Network Side/User Side parameters at each end of optical span
being established.
4.
Verify software in each DDM-2000 shelf is Release 8 or later
software that supports 22-Type OLIUs
5.
NOTE:
Mixing of 21-Type OLIUs and 22-Type OLIUs in one shelf is
not allowed in ring software.
Replace OLIUs in each shelf with proper 22-Type OLIUs, if not
already done. (Protection OLIUs are required.)
