Sample calculation (worst case system configuration) for a system cabinet
The following bridging times are determined for the battery packs on the basis of the discharge rates
in
Figure 3-12
YUASA NP 12 V / 12 Ah - approx. 2 h 15 min
YUASA NP 12 V / 7 Ah - approx. 1 h 15 min
Extending the bridging time
The backup time can be doubled by connecting two battery packs in parallel by means of appropriate
cabling.
Warnung
Battery packs connected in parallel must contain batteries from the same manufacturer and
of the same type.
This has the following disadvantages:
Longer battery recharging time. (The two battery packs must be recharged by a battery
manager. The battery manager's charging current is divided between two battery packs.)
One USVI cabinet is required per system cabinet.
Another way of increasing bridging times is to provide an external power supply of 48 V by means of
a separate charging rectifier with external batteries or by connecting the system to an external 48 V
DC network system.
