1. Press "Open customer database" in Hicom Assistant E.
2. Select the "*.fst" extension in the List Files of Type field.
3. Select the directory with "fst File" and open this file.
4. Press "Transfer" in Hicom Assistant E.
5. Enter the access number.
6. Select "APS transfer".
Note:
If the APS transfer field is shown in reverse video, the "fst file" was not correctly opened. Press
this button to open an additional window in the upper right-hand corner. You can define the
time at which the new APS should be active here.
You can now perform the APS transfer.
7. The length of time the transfer takes varies depending on the system. In general, it takes
between 30 and 40 min. when using a B channel modem. Transfer times in the region of one
hour are to be expected if you use an IMOD.
8. Hicom Assistant E confirms the successful APS transfer with the message "APS-Transfer
successful". A system reset is then performed and the system starts up with the new APS either
immediately or after the predefined time.
9. After a successful start-up, the system deletes the old APS to ensure that a later upgrade is
possible. The delete operation takes approx. 7 min.
10. You can check whether the new APS is active either in the UI under the menu item 29-1-2 or in
Hicom Assistant E.
Description of procedure (after a connection has been set up)
At the beginning of the session, you must specify which APS is to be transferred and when the APS
changeover should take place.
The session can be cancelled manually at any time from the service centre.
If you select a complete APS transfer, the system application performs various tests. The following
errors may occur:
If (error)
The flash memory card is not big enough An error is signalled. Hicom Assistant E shows the error
The flash memory card is write-protected The error message "Flash card write-protected" is output.
No APS block deleted

"Flash Card Too Small".
The flash memory card must be replaced on-site.
Deactivate write protection.
Error message "No APS block deleted".
The system application deletes the flash block, required
for the new APS (shadow APS block). This procedure
takes at least 20 minutes, the actual time required depends
on the load.
You must end the session and try again later on.
