7.6.7 Audible Tone Monitoring

Definition
Connection setup via analog lines is always linked to audible tone monitoring. The line is checked to
determine whether the audible tone is present. The dialling information is not transmitted to the
central office until this check has been performed.
The reason for this is that the time until the CO dial tone is received may differ depending on the
network operator and network status.
Audible tone monitoring is performed:
after line seizure.
after dialling of administrable digits (e.g. discriminating digit in the PABX, LCR).
when a second audible tone is monitored.
