17. Line up the mark (A) on the connecting rod and cap,
then install the cap.
18. A p p l y new engine oil t o the bolt threads. Torque
the bolts (B) to 20 N-m (2.0 kgf-m, 14 Ibf-ft).
19. Mark the connecting rod (A) and bolt head (B) as
s h o w n .
2 1 . Tighten the bearing cap bolts (A), and then the
bearing cap side bolts (B) t o the specified torque in
the sequence s h o w n . Repeat the torque sequence
again to ensure the bolts are properly torqued.

(5.0 kgf-m, 36 Ibf-ft)

20. Tighten the bolt until the mark on the bolt head
lines up w i t h the mark on the connecting rod (turn
the bolt 9 0 ° ) .
NOTE: Remove the connecting rod bolt if y o u
tightened it beyond the specified angle, and go
back to step 14 of the procedure. Do not loosen it
back to the specified angle.
