2.46 LITER (150 CIO) FOUR-CYLINDER ENGINE
Install the nuts on the end studs finger-tight.
Clean the threads in the
bore
for the oxygen
(0
2
)
sensor.
Apply
antiseize compound to the oxygen (0
2
)
sensor threads.
Install the oxygen sensor and connect the wire
connector.
Tighten the sensor with 48
N-m (35
ft-lbs) torque.
Connect the exhaust pipe to the exhaust
manifold. Tighten the nuts with 31 N-m (23 ft-lbs)
torque.
Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake
Manifold Installation for the procedure.
Install the E G R valve tube.

CYLINDER HEAD REMOVAL
Disconnect the battery negative cable.
N O T E : Do not waste reusable coolant. If the
solution is clean and is being drained only to
service the engine or cooling system, drain the
coolant into a clean container for reuse.
W A R N I N G : Do not remove the cylinder block
drain plugs or loosen the radiator draincock with
the system hot and pressurized b e c a u s e
serious burns from the coolant can occur.
Drain the coolant and disconnect the hoses at
the thermostat housing.
Remove the air cleaner.
Remove the cylinder head cover (1). Refer to
Cylinder Head Cover Removal for the procedure
Remove the rocker arms (2) and bridge (3) and
pivot (4) assemblies. Alternately loosen each
capscrew, one turn at a time, to avoid damaging
the bridges.
