Data Storage

In addition to mega samples of on-board RAM, you can record directly to the
GEN5i hard drive, removable disk, or USB device. In addition you can archive
your data on a DVD, USB stick, removable disk; or to a network server over the
Gigabit Ethernet. The GEN5i always stores to on-board high-speed RAM.
Recorded data is then automatically stored on the GEN5i defined storage
location at maximum speed. At rates up to megabytes per second storage is
continuous, and unlimited duration recordings can be made.
The GEN5i control module can be factory-equipped with an optional SCSI
controller. The SCSI option provides expansion and flexibility, allowing GEN5i
users to add a wide range of external hard drives for additional storage of
recordings. For details on the SCSI controller see "Option - SCSI interface
board" on page 206.
Recorded files are standard Windows files with extension PNRF (Perception
Native Recording File).
