The SCSI option provides expansion and flexibility, allowing GEN5i users to
add a wide range of external hard drives for local storage of recordings
Typical applications include:
Storage of data without the use of the Windows PC

Improvement of aggregate acquisition speed in multi-mainframe
l
configurations
The SCSI option requires the external connection of a SCSI disk that support
Ultra320 SCSI. When using a lower graded disk a warning will be generated
and specified through put can not be guaranteed.
When the external SCSI disk is used attach the external disk prior to booting
the GEN5i mainframe. Only during boot of the GEN5i mainframe the attached
SCSI disk will be recognized.
WARNING
Never disconnect the SCSI disk while the GEN5i mainframe is still
powered ON. Serious danger exits of loosing your valuable data. The
GEN5i SCSI disk is not a plug and play device.
