Chapter 3 Volume Management
3.4 Format Volume
The procedure to format a volume is as follows:
Procedure

Select the volume to be formatted (multiple selections can be made) and click [Format] in
[Action].
 A confirmation screen appears.
• The [Format] button cannot be clicked under the following conditions:

• If the format target TPV fulfills all of the following conditions, an error screen appears. Check the
parameter settings.

Click the [OK] button.
 Formatting of a volume starts.

Click the [Done] button to return to the [Volume] screen.
Volumes that are used for the Virtual Volume function is selected
FTV type volumes where the usage is "System" is selected
For the ETERNUS DX8700 S3/DX8900 S3, more than 1024 volumes are selected
Allocation method is "Thick"
The volume status is " Readying"
The free space in the TPP to which the TPV belongs is insufficient
