AC97 CONTROLLER
This chapter describes the functions and usage of AC97 Controller in S5PC110 RISC microprocessor.
4.1 OVERVIEW OF AC97 CONTROLLER
The AC97 Controller Unit in the S5PC110 supports the features of AC97 revision 2.0. AC97 Controller uses audio
controller link (AC-link) to communicate with AC97 Codec. Controller sends the stereo PCM data to Codec. The
external digital-to-analog converter (DAC) in the Codec converts the audio sample to an analog audio waveform.
Controller receives the stereo PCM data and the mono Mic data from Codec then store in memories. This
chapter describes the programming model for the AC97 Controller Unit. The prerequisite in this chapter requires
an understanding of the AC97 revision 2.0 specifications.
4.2 KEY FEATURES OF AC97 CONTROLLER
The AC97 Controller includes the following features:
Independent channels for stereo PCM In, stereo PCM Out, mono MIC In.
DMA-based operation and interrupt based operation.
All of the channels support only 16-bit samples.
Variable sampling rate AC97 Codec interface (48 kHz and below)
16-bit, 16 entry FIFOs per channel
Only primary Codec support
