Parameter
inbound: Enable to fast forward on ingress only.
outbound: Enable to fast forward on egress only.
Description
Using the ip fast-forwarding command, you can enable the interface to fast forward
packets outwardly. Using the undo ip fast-forwarding command, you can disable
the interface to fast forward packets outwardly.
By default, enable to fast forward on both the ingress and egress.
Fast-forwarding is suitable for the high-speed link interfaces such as Ethernet and
frame relay, etc. Because the low-speed link has a low transmission speed,
fast-forwarding it is meaningless.
Quidway series routers support the fast-forwarding on all high-speed link interfaces,
including Ethernet, synchronous PPP, frame relay and HDLC, etc. It also support the
fast-forwarding through firewall and NAT. Notice that the interface configured with
fast-forwarding will not transmit any reorientation packets.
Example
# Disable the interface to fast forward packets.
[Quidway-Ethernet0] undo ip fast-forwarding
# Enable the interface to fast forward packets on ingress.
[Quidway-Ethernet0] ip fast-forwarding in
