Parameter
seconds: Interval at which the Hello packet is sent from the interface, ranging from 1
to 255 seconds. The default value subjects to the network type of the interface.
Description
Using the ospf timer hello command, you can configure the interval that router sends
hello packet to peer or peers. Using the undo ospf timer hello command, you can
restore the default value.
By default, the Hello packet is sent from the point-to-point network interface every 10
seconds and from the point-to-multipoint and the NBMA network interfaces every 30
seconds.
The interval at which the Hello packet is sent will be written to and be transferred
along with the Hello packet. The smaller the value, the faster the change in the
network topology is discovered, and the higher the route cost. This parameter must
be kept the same among neighboring routers.
For related commands, see ospf timer dead.
