2.1.19 pim timer hello

Syntax
pim timer hello seconds
undo pim timer hello
View
Interface view
Parameter
seconds: Time interval at which the interface transmits the packet Hello, ranging
from 1 to 65535 seconds. The default value is 30.
Description
Using the pim timer hello command, you can configure the time interval at which
the interface transmits the packet Hello. Using the undo pim timer hello
command, you can restore the default value of the time interval at which the
interfaces send the Hello packets.
After starting PIM-SM protocol, the interface will periodically transmit the packet
Hello to all PIM routers (Group address is 224.0.0.13) to look for neighbors. Such
time interval is specified by PIM query interval timer. If the interface receives the
packet Hello, this indicates the interface has neighboring PIM router. The
interface will add this neighbor into its interface neighbor table. If the interface
hasn't received the packet Hello from the neighbor in its neighbor table within
specified time, it will assume that the neighbor has already left the multicast
network. Time interval at which the packet Hello is sent can be configured based
on the bandwidth and type of the network connected with the interface.
Example
# Configure the time interval at which the packet Hello is sent on PIM router
ethernet0 interface as 40 seconds.
[3Com-Ethernet0] pim timer hello 40
