Parameter
area-id: The number of the area to which the interface belongs. It can be either an integer or an
IP address.
Description
Using the ospf enable area command, you can configure the area where the interface runs
SPF protocol, so that the interface can transceiver OSPF packets
O
ospf enable area command, you can cancel the area to which the interface belongs,
so that the interface can stop transmitting or receiving the OSPF packets.
By default, an interface is not configured to belong to any area.
To run the OSPF on certain interface, the interface must be configured to belong to
certain area. To keep normal running of the OSPF, all router interfaces of an area
should be kept consistent in area-id. The ABR is engaged in transforming routing
information among different areas.
Example
# Allow OSPF running at Serial 0, and specify it as belonging to area 0.
[3Com-Serial0] ospf enable area 0

ospf network-type { broadcast | nbma | p2mp | p2p
undo ospf network-type { broadcast | nbma | p2mp | p2p
