Description
Using the interface command, you can enter the corresponding interface view or to
create the sub-interface for the logic interfaces and physical interface. Using the
undo interface command, you can cancel specified logic interface or sub-interface.
The types of interface supported by THE OPERATING SYSTEM include:
Table 1-2 Types of Interface supported by THE OPERATING SYSTEM
Interface type
AUX
Analogmodem
Async
Bri
Bridge-Template
Dialer
Ethernet
Loopback
Serial
Virtual-template
Tunnel
The interface name can be derived from the interface numbering rule. interface-name
uses the format of interface type + interface number. For example, Ethernet0
represents the Ethernet interface with the interface number 0. Serial0.1 represents
the first sub-interface of the interface Serial0. Similarly, Serial3.2 represents the
second channel-set of the CE1/ PRI numbered 3.
To simplify inputting for the user, the type in interface-name can be abbreviated to be
the first few letters as long as it will not be confused with other type of interface . For
instance, Ethernet0 can be abbreviated to be e0, and Serial0.1 to s0.1.
By using the interface command, the user can not only enter the physical interface
view but also create logic interface according to his needs. This command can be
used in any view at the same level as the interface view to switch to corresponding
interface view.
Note: the undo interface command is used to delete the user-defined logic
interfaces (such as Dialer, Tunnel, Virtual-template) and the sub-interface of the
physical interface.
