Chapter 3 WAN Interface Configuration

3.1 Serial Interface Configuration Commands

3.1.1 async mode

Syntax
async mode { protocol | flow | tty | printer | posapp | pos id }
View
Asynchronous serial interface view
Aux interface view
Parameter
protocol: Protocol mode. After a physical connection is setup, the configuration
parameters of the existing link-layer are directly used to set up a link.
flow: Flow mode, also called the interactive mode. After a physical connection is
setup, both ends of the link will interact with each other. The calling end sends
configuration commands to the called end (this can achieve the same effect as by
entering configuration commands remotely). The parameters of the link-layer protocol
at the called end are set, and then a link is set up. This mode applies for
man-machine interaction situations such as the dial-up.
tty: Terminal Server mode. When the asynchronous serial interface of the router is
used in the terminal server mode, the number of virtual terminal (VTY) and physical
terminal can be set by using this keyword and related parameters. For detailed
setting, refer to Terminal Access User Manual.
Description
Using the async mode command, you can configure the working mode of the
asynchronous serial interface.
By default, the asynchronous serial interface works in the protocol mode and the AUX
interface works in the flow mode.
