Transmission Speed
The transmission speed estimation is based on the calculated SNR values and the selected receiver
sensitivity values. The network card manufacturer reports the minimum RSSI values required for the
network card to operate at a specific transmission speed (1, 2, 5.5, or 11 mbps in 802.11b).
1.
Select the network card settings that are closest to the network cards to be used generally in
the network, or add the receiver sensitivity values manually to the sensitivity.cfg file located in
the conf folder under your Alcatel OmniAccess Wireless Site Survey Tool installation directory.
2.
Type in your requirement for the SNR threshold for your network installation.
3.
The Site Survey Tool will visualize the theoretical data transmission speed per location per
client. The estimated Transmission Speed result assumes that only one access point serves per
location.
Transmission speed quickly gives an estimate of the achievable throughput per location.
