Backfilled, not artificially compacted ground:
Natural, apparently undisturbed ground:
Mud, peat, marsh
Non-cohesive ground which is
sufficiently firm:
Cohesive ground:
Rock with minimal fissures in
sound, unweathered condition
and with favourable strata:
If you are unsure about the load bearing capacity of the ground, have the
ground tested.
