Inspection Procedure 2
Even after the engine is started, the brake warning lamp
does not switch off.
(However, the parking brake is released and the brake
fluid level, brake fluid sensor and parking brake switch are
all normal.)
If the ABS warning lamp is also illuminated at the same time, the cause is probably
that the brake warning lamp is operating as an EBD warning lamp because of a
problem in the ABS system. In addition, if the ABS warning lamp is switched off,
the cause is probably a malfunction of the brake warning lamp relay or an open
circuit in the brake warning lamp operating circuit.
Is the ABS warning lamp illuminated at the same time?
Disconnect the brake warning lamp relay connector A-104.
D Ignition switch ON
OK: The brake warning lamp switches off.
Check the brake warning lamp relay. (Refer to P.35B- 8)
Measure at the brake warning lamp relay connector A-104.
D Disconnect the connector and measure at the harness side.
D Ignition switch ON
D Voltage between terminal (3) and body earth
OK: System voltage
Measure at the ABS-ECU connector A-54.
D Disconnect the connector and measure at the harness side.
D Ignition switch ON
D Voltage between terminal (12) and body earth
OK: System voltage
Replace the hydraulic unit and the ABS-ECU.
