63. MAC Authentication Commands

63-1 mac-auth system-auth-control
This command is used to enable MAC authentication globally. Use the no form of the command to
disable the MAC authentication globally.
mac-auth system-auth-control
no mac-auth system-auth-control
Parameters
None.
Default
By default, this option is disabled.
Command Mode
Global Configuration Mode.
Command Default Level
Level: 12.
Usage Guideline
MAC authentication is a feature designed to authenticate a user by MAC address when the user is trying
to access the network via the switch. The switch itself can perform the authentication based on a local
database or be a RADIUS client and perform the authentication process via the RADIUS protocol with a
remote RADIUS server.
Example
This example shows how to enable MAC authentication globally.
Switch# configure terminal
Switch(config)# mac-auth system-auth-control
Switch(config)#
63-2 mac-auth enable
This command is used to enable MAC authentication on the specified interface. Use the no form of the
command to disable MAC authentication.
mac-auth enable
no mac-auth enable
Parameters
None.
