94-7 poison-reverse
This command is used to enable the poison reverse processing for an IPv6 RIP process. Use the no form
of the command to disable the poison-reverse processing.

Parameters
None.
Default
By default, this option is disabled.

Router Configuration Mode.
Command Default Level
Level: 12.
Usage Guideline
Use the poison reverse command to enable the poison reverse mechanism in RIP routing updates. When
poison reverse is enabled, the routes learned from an interface will be advertised out to the same
interface with an unreachable metric.
Example
This example shows how to enable poison reverse for IPv6 RIP.
Switch# configure terminal
Switch(config)# ipv6 router rip
Switch(config-rtr)# poison-reverse
Switch(config-rtr)#
94-8 redistribute
This command is used to redistribute routes from other routing domains into RIP. Use the no command to
disable route redistribution from specific protocols.
redistribute PROTOCOL [metric METRIC-VALUE]
no redistribute PROTOCOL
Parameters
PROTOCOL
metric METRIC-VALUE
Default
Specifies the protocol whose routes are to be redistributed. The static
keyword means to redistribute IP static routes. The connected
keyword refers to routes that are established automatically by virtue of
configuring IP address on an interface.
(Optional) Specifies the value to be used as the metric for the
redistributed routes. The range is from 0 to 16.
