Chapter 28: Upper layer troubleshooting
This section describes troubleshooting for Layer 4 to 7 applications.
SNMP troubleshooting
This section describes methods to troubleshoot the following Simple Network Management
Protocol (SNMP) scenario:
• network management station (NMS) not receiving traps
Verify your management configurations for your management station. Also verify your
management station setup. If you can reach a device but are not receiving traps, verify the
trap configurations (that is, the trap destination address and the traps to be sent).

7. Get sniffer traces to verify that the switch received the poll.
8. Get sniffer trace to verify that the NMS gets the response.
9. Verify that the data in the response is the data that was requested.
