Clean the fans to ensure proper air flow for cooling, thereby ensuring the longevity and optimal performance of the equipment.

    To prevent electrostatic discharge damage when you work with the Ethernet Routing Switch 8800/8600, place each module on a grounded antistatic mat until you are ready to install it. If you do not have an antistatic mat, wear a discharge leash or wrist strap to free yourself of static before you touch a module.

    Removing a module Procedure steps 1. Using a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the two captive screws that fasten the filler panel to the chassis as shown the following figures. The first figure shows the 8003-R, 8006, and 8010 chassis and the second figure shows the 8010co chassis.

    Installing a filler panel Installing a filler panel After you clean the chassis slots or backplane you must install a filler panel or module in the slot. To maintain proper airflow and cooling, always cover unused module slots and power supply bays with filler panels.

Procedure steps Important: If you replaced bezel 312096-A with the modified bezel model 321325-A, you do not need to remove the bezel.

Procedure steps Important: You can replace a fan tray in the 8010co chassis with the power on or off. Caution: Electrostatic discharge can damage hardware.
