Note It is often not necessary to clean the ion cartridge sleeve. If the oxidation is removed
from the exterior of the ion cartridge sleeve during cleaning, it is advisable to heat it in the
GC oven to build up an oxidative layer before inserting the sleeve into the ion source
block. An overly clean sleeve exterior surface can cause welding to the ion source block.
