b. If the oil level goes above the MAX level mark, remove the drain plug and drain the
excess oil from the pump.
35. Reassemble the foreline pump.
a. Reattach the oil filler plug.
b. Place the foreline pump on the floor.
c. Reconnect the foreline vacuum hose.
36. Reconnect the foreline pump power cable into the System Mech Pump connector on the
back of the ISQ 7000 instrument.
37. Twist the vent valve clockwise to close the valve. Be sure not to pinch the vent valve
o-ring.
38. If you are using hydrogen as a carrier gas, replace the front panel screw.
39. Replace all remaining hydrogen safety screws if you are using hydrogen.
40. Power on the ISQ 7000 mass spectrometer.
41. If the GC is powered off, power it on and make sure vacuum compensation is on for the
carrier gas flowing into the mass spectrometer.
WARNING FIRE HAZARD: If you are using hydrogen, do NOT reach over the top of the
instrument to power it on. Instead, reach around the right side or go to the back of the
instrument and flip up the power switch.

42. Purge the foreline pump for 10 minutes by using the gas ballast to remove excess gases
from the new oil.
