IMPORTANT If there is any doubt about compatibility of decontamination or cleaning
agents with parts of the equipment or material contained in it, the responsible party must
contact Thermo Fisher Scientific product support personnel.
You can clean the following durable components inside the vacuum manifold:
• Repeller
• Repeller plate
• Repeller nut
• Repeller spring
• Filament retaining spring
• Ion volume
• Lens 1
• Lens 2
• Lens 3/RF lens
• Ion cartridge sleeve
• Ion source block
• Ion guide
• Heat shield for the source interface board
• Screws
Note You only need to clean the repeller, ion volume and all the lenses the most
frequently. Cleaning the other components are not part of the expected maintenance.
To clean durable components of the ISQ 7000 mass spectrometer, you will need the following
cleaning supplies:
• Acetone, reagent grade (or other suitable polar solvent)
• Aluminum oxide abrasive powder, number 600
• Applicators, cotton-tipped
• Cotton swab with wooden handle
• Deionized water
• Detergent (Alconox, Micro, or equivalent)
• Dremel rotary tool or equivalent (recommended)
• Forceps
• Gas, clean and dry (Nitrogen, Helium or equivalent)
• Glass beaker
• Gloves, cleanroom (see the ISQ Spare Parts Guide for ordering information.)
• Glycerol, reagent grade
• Razor blade
• Toothbrush that will not leave any plastic residue
• Ultrasonic cleaner
WARNING MATERIAL AND EYE HAZARD: Wear impermeable laboratory gloves and eye
protection when cleaning components.
