3.3.3 Starting the Program

The following procedure describes how to load, initialize, and start the Avantra
Diagnostic Program (AVDIAG):
1. Insure that the Avantra diagnostic software has been properly loaded onto
the PC as described in Section 3.3.2.
2. Connect the serial cable from one of the serial ports of the PC (must be
com 1 or 2) to the Avantra's diagnostic serial port located on the inside of
the system on the DEC I/O panel.
3. The imagesetter should be powered up at this point and in an idle state.
Turn on the PC, change to the Avantra directory and start the program.
Type:
Upon execution, AVDIAG sends out an enter service {MXES111111} com-
mand to the imagesetter's remote diagnostic port. This puts the imagesetter
in a state to accept and perform commands sent to the port.
NOTE:
This state renders the OCP inoperable until the imagesetter
has been reset or power cycled.
4. The program displays the firmware revision levels of the imagesetter. Press
any key to continue.
The main menu bar appears at the top and is ready for the user to select a
function.
