4.5.1. Replacement of SMB unit

Removal, SMB unit
The procedure below details how to remove the SMB unit.

1. Move the robot to the calibration position.
2.
DANGER!
Turn off all electric power, hydraulic and pneumatic
pressure supplies to the robot!
For Foundry Prime robots:
Do not turn off the air pressure to motors and SMB.

WARNING!
The unit is sensitive to ESD. Before handling the unit
please read the safety information in the section
WARNING - The unit is sensitive to ESD! on page 43
4. Remove the SMB cover by unscrewing its
attachment screws.
5. Remove the connectors X8, X9 and X10 from the
brake release board, if need of more space.
6. Remove the nuts and washers from the pins securing
the board.
7. Gently disconnect the connectors from the SMB unit
when pulling the board out.
8. Disconnect the battery cable from the SMB unit.
