ENGINE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

ENGINE REMOVAL

Gasoline is highly flammable and explosive.
You can be burned or seriously injured when
handling fuel.
• Keep heat, sparks, and flame away.
• Wipe up spills immediately.
• Handle fuel only outdoors.
Disconnect the battery negative (–) cable, then positive
(+) cable from the battery.
Shift the remote control lever to the N (neutral) position.
Relieve the fuel pressure (page 5-66).
Remove the following parts:
– Electric parts case (page 10-4)
– Power tilt relay case (page 10-6)
– Engine cover bracket (page 6-9)
– Front cover bracket (page 6-10)
– Water separator (page 5-93)
– Fuel pump (High pressure side)/Vapor separator
(page 5-86)
– Oil case/Exhaust pipe/Water tube (page 12-6)
– Starter motor (page 9-5)
Remove the bolt (8 x 18 mm) [1] and starter cable (–)
[2].
Disconnect fuel tube A [1] and B [2] from the fuel
strainer [3].
Remove the fuel strainer from the strainer bracket [4].
Release fuel tube A from the hose clamp [5].
Disconnect fuel tube G [1] from the fuel pump (low
pressure side) [2].
Release fuel tube G from the hose clip [3].
