CONTROLS
SHIFT SHAFT ALIGNMENT
When shift shafts A and B are not properly aligned, it
may be possible to start the engine in either forward or
reverse gear. Always make sure the shafts are properly
aligned.
After reassembly and before starting the engine:
• Remove the emergency stop switch clip from the
emergency stop switch.
• Remove the propeller.
• Put the remote control lever in the neutral position.
• Try turning the propeller shaft by hand.
If it does not turn freely, recheck shift shaft A and B
alignment.
If shift shaft B [1] has become disengaged from shift
shaft A during the removal of the seal holder [2],
perform the following steps.
Remove the bolt (6 x 16 mm) [3] and washer (6 mm) [4]
from the sift shaft B and remove the shift arm [5].
Remove the two bolts (6 x 11 mm) [6] and the seal
holder.
Remove shift shaft B to the back side of the engine
assembly.
Remove the O-ring [7] and oil seal [8] from the seal
holder.
