Move the link rod [1] forward [2] lightly until it stops at
the end of the freeplay; mark indicator A [3] on the shift
link bracket [4] as shown.
Move the link rod until it stops at the end of the freeplay;
mark indicator B [5] on the shift link bracket as shown.
Mark indicator C [6] half way between indicator A and
indicator B.
Align the link rod end with indicator C and hold the click
spring roller [1] in the shift arm groove [2], and then
tighten the bolt (6 x 14 mm) [3] securely.
If the assist spring [4] tip does not push the neutral
switch [5], check the assist spring and neutral switch
bracket for deformation.
Replace them if necessary.
Loosen the shift control cable [1] adjusting nut [2].
Adjust the shift control cable by turning the shift pivot [3]
until the shift cable pivot will install over the link rod end
[4] without moving the link rod.
After adjustment, apply marine grease to the link rod
insertion part and install the shift control cable on the
link rod end. Lock the lock plate [5] by sliding it to the
groove of the link rod and tighten the adjusting nut.
