FUEL PUMP (HIGH PRESSURE SIDE)

INSPECTION

DISCHARGE VOLUME INSPECTION
Gasoline is highly flammable and explosive.
You can be burned or seriously injured when
handling fuel.
• Keep heat, sparks, and flame away.
• Wipe up spills immediately.
• Handle fuel only outdoors.
• Use a known-good battery for the voltage check.
Disconnect the pressure regulator return hose [1] and
connect a hose [2] that is equivalent to the pressure
regulator return hose to the pressure regulator.
Place a suitable container [3] under the hose as shown.
Turn the combination switch ON. Operate the fuel pump
for approximately 2 seconds and measure the fuel
discharge volume.
Discharge volume
0.06 liter (2.0 US oz, 2.1 Imp oz) or more
If the discharge volume is too small, check the following
and replace the fuel pump (page 5-86).
– Open circuit or poor contact of the main wire
harness
– Clogged fuel filter (high pressure side) or fuel hose/
pipe
– Check the pressure regulator for proper operation
(page 5-111).
If the fuel pump does not operate when the combination
switch is turned ON, inspect the fuel pump circuit (page
5-114).
