Apply marine grease to the lips and soapy water to the
outer circumference of the new water seals (12 x 21 x 6
mm) [1].
With the lips facing up, drive the water seals (12 x 21 x
6 mm) into the shift rod holder [2].
TOOLS:
Driver [3]
Oil seal driver attachment,
42 x 47 mm [4]
Apply marine grease to the circumference of a new O-
ring [1], and install it on the shift rod holder [2].
Install the shift rod holder into the gear case by aligning
the projection [3] of the shift rod holder with the recess
[4] of the gear case.
After installation, check that the cutout [5] in the shift
rod [6] splines is in the cruising direction [7].
Install the water pump (page 11-12).
