CYLINDER HEAD
Make sure that the intake primary rocker arm [1] and
intake secondary rocker arm [2] are mechanically
connected by the piston and that the mid rocker arm [3]
does not move when pushed manually. If any intake
mid rocker arm moves independently of the primary and
secondary rocker arms, replace the rocker arms as a
set.
After inspection, check that the MIL does not come on.
VTEC ROCKER ARM PISTONS
INSPECTION
Disassemble the rocker arms and inspect the rocker
arm pistons [1]. Push them manually. If they do not
move smoothly, replace the rocker arm assembly.
• Apply engine oil to the pistons when reassembling.
• Do not mix up the pistons; they must go back in their
original positions.
