CYLINDER HEAD
INSTALLATION
Set the crankshaft drive pulley at top dead center of the
compression stroke of the No.1 cylinder before
installation of the cylinder head assembly (page 14-6).
Clean the cylinder head and cylinder block mating
surfaces.
Clean the oil control orifice [1] and oil passage using
pressurized air.
Coat a new O-ring [2] with engine oil and install it to the
oil control orifice.
Install the dowel pins [3], oil control orifice, and new
gaskets [4].
Install the cylinder head assembly.
Apply engine oil to the threaded section and the seating
surface of each cylinder head bolt/washer [5], and
loosely tighten the bolts against the cylinder head.
Tighten the bolts in the numbered order. Be sure to
tighten them in two or three steps to the specified
torque.
TORQUE: 39.2 N·m (4.0 kgf·m, 29 lbf·ft)
Using a torque angle gauge (TA360: commercially
available), continue tightening the bolts in two more
steps to the angles shown.
Step 1: + 50°
Step 2: + 53°
Install the following:
– Fuel pipe and injectors (page 5-83)
– Fuel pump (High pressure side)/Vapor separator
(page 5-90)
– Cylinder head covers (page 14-20)
– Timing belt (page 14-12)
– Exhaust manifolds (page 5-96)
– Engine cover
