GEAR CASE (COUNTER ROTATION)
Tilt up the motor to the uppermost position.
Install the two dowel pins [1] to the extension separator
[2]. (XXCA type)
Install the two dowel pins [3] to the gear case [4].
Install the shift rod A [5] by aligning the cutout [6] of the
shift rod A spline with the projection [7] of the spline of
shift shaft A [8].
Apply marine grease to the vertical shaft spline and
inside of the water tube seal ring.
Install the extension separator, and connect the
speedometer tube [9]. (XXCA type)
Install the gear case halfway.
Connect the speedometer tube to the gear case (XCA
type).
Install the shift rod A by aligning the projection [10] of
the shift rod A spline [11] with the cutout [12] of the
spline of the shift rod [13].
Loosely tighten six gear case bolt/washers (10 x 47
mm) [14]. (XCA type)
Loosely tighten six washers (10 mm) [15] and six gear
case nuts (10 mm) [16]. (XXCA type).
Tilt down the motor to the lowermost position.
Tighten the six gear case bolts (XCA type) or six gear
case nuts (XXCA type) to the specified torque.
TORQUE: 37 N·m (3.8 kgf·m, 27 lbf·ft)
Install the washer [17] and the gear case nut (12 mm)
[18].
TORQUE: 56 N·m (5.7 kgf·m, 41 lbf·ft)
Install the gear case cover [1] by aligning the " " marks
[2].
Install and tighten the bolt/washer (10 x 32 mm) [3].
After installing the gear case, adjust the shift control
cable (page 20-3).
