Remove the five side bolts (10 x 60 mm) [1], two side
bolts (10 x 80 mm) [2], side bolt (10 x 109 mm) [3], eight
bearing cap bolts [4], four bearing caps [5], four lower
main bearings [6], and eight dowel pins [7].
• Check the main bearing for damage (scores,
scratches, etc.) and replace it with a new one if
necessary.
Remove the crankshaft [8], two thrust washers [9], and
four upper main bearings [10], taking care not to
damage the journal.
Remove the three oil jet bolts [1] and three oil jet bodies
[2].
Check the oil jet bolt and oil jet body for clogs or
damage.
Check the crankshaft and cylinder block (page 15-27).
PISTON DISASSEMBLY
Remove the piston ring [2] using a piston ring expander
(commercially available) [1].
• Store the removed connecting rod bearing and
piston ring with its piston.
• Do not expand the piston ring excessively as it can
break easily.
• Do not damage the piston with the piston ring.
