Apply gear oil to the threads and seating surface of the
bearing holder [1].
Position the bearing holder on the propeller shaft.
Loosely tighten the bearing holder by hand against the
propeller shaft holder [2].
Attach the fixing tool or special tool [3] (page 16-20), on
the propeller shaft holder and secure with two bolts [4].
TOOL:
Prop shaft holder [3]
Hold the fixing tool with a vise.
• Avoid holding the propeller shaft holder directly in a
vise. Use the fixing tool to hold it in a vise.
Tighten the bearing holder to the specified torque using
the special tool as shown.
TOOL:
Pin type spanner, 128 mm [5]
TORQUE: 230 N·m (23.5 kgf·m, 170 lbf·ft)
• Make sure the torque wrench [6] is mounted
perpendicular [7] to the special tool. If the torque
wrench is not held 90 degrees to the tool, the torque
reading will be incorrect.
SHIFT SLIDER INSTALLATION
Install a shift spring [1], two steel balls (#12) [2], the
other shift spring, and the shift plate [3] in this order in
the shift slider [4].
Install the roller [5] by aligning the hole in the shift slider
with the hole in the shift plate, and then install the circlip
[6].
• Do not align the end gap of the circlip with the hole
of the shift slider.
Set the two steel balls (#7) [1] in the steel ball
installation holes in the shift slider [2], and push the shift
slider slowly into the propeller shaft [3].
• Push the shift slider into the propeller shaft with care
not to allow the steel balls to pop out.
