TROUBLESHOOTING
THE OVERHEAT INDICATOR LIGHT GOES OFF AND OIL INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON
1. Overheat indicator light and oil indicator light inspection
Check the overheat indicator light and oil indicator light as follows:
– Using the HDS (page 4-19)
– Without using the HDS (page 4-20)
Are they correct?
YES
NO
WARNING BUZZER SOUNDS INTERMITTENTLY (LONG BEEP)
1. MIL inspection
Check to see if the MIL stays on.
Does the MIL stay ON?
YES
NO
2. Alternator indicator light inspection
Check to see if the alternator indicator light stays on.
Does the alternator indicator light stay ON?
YES
NO
WARNING BUZZER SOUNDS INTERMITTENTLY (SHORT BEEP)
1. Water separator/fuel strainer inspection
Turn the combination switch OFF.
Check the water separator and the fuel strainer (low pressure side).
Is there water in the cup?
YES
NO
2. Water level sensor inspection
Disconnect the water level sensor 2P connector
Does the warning buzzer sound the intermittent short term sound?
YES
NO

– Replace the ECM with a new one and recheck.
– Replace or repair the faulty part.
– Perform PGM-FI troubleshooting (page 5-6).
– GO TO STEP 2.
– Perform charging system troubleshooting (page 7-4).
– Check the indicator light:
• FUNCTION TEST USING THE HDS (page 4-19)
• FUNCTION TEST WITHOUT USING THE HDS (page 4-20)
• If indicator light is correct, replace the ECM with a new one and recheck
– Remove the water and clean the cup of the water separator and fuel strainer (page 3-27).
– GO TO STEP 2.
– Repair the shorted wire between ECM and water level sensor. If the wires are correct, replace the
ECM with a new one and recheck.
– Inspect the water level sensor (page 5-124).
