Lightly tap the end of each valve stem [1] two or three
times with a plastic hammer to ensure proper seating of
the valve and valve keepers.
Tap the valve stem only along its axis so you do not
bend the stem.
• Support the cylinder head on an engine table or
equivalent to prevent damage to the valve.
Apply marine grease to the new oil seal [1] lips.
Gently tap the camshaft oil seal into the cylinder head.
Install the oil seal in the cylinder head about 0.5 – 1.5
mm (0.02 – 0.06 in.) from the surface of the cylinder
head.

Attachment, 52 x 55 mm [3]
Coat a new O-ring [1] with engine oil and install it to the
camshaft thrust cover [2].
Insert the camshaft [3] into the cylinder head, then
install the camshaft thrust cover with the two bolts (8 x
28 mm) [4].
Note that R. camshaft and L. camshaft are different. Do
not confuse them.
Check that the oil seal lips are not distorted.
