Ta<que: 1,040 kg-em (75 h-lb, 102 N -ml
NOTE: Do not turn crankshaft.

Remove the main bearing caps .
(j) Measure the plastigauge at its widest point.
St-.rd clearance: 0.034 - 0 .0158 mm
(0.0013 - 0.00231n.)
Maximum cle ... r>eo: 0.08 mm (0.0031 ln.)
tf the clearance is greater than maxlm!M'n, repl ace the bear·
ings and/or grind the main journals.
Unden~lzed bearing: U/S 0.25,

NOTE: If replacing a standard size bearing with a stan·
dard oil clearance, replace
with
one having the same num·
ber.

21. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT
(a) Lift out the crankshaft.
(b) Remove the upper main bearings from the cylinder
block.
(c) Clean out any plastigago scraps f rom the bearing and
joumals.
