Speedometer
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION OF SPEEOOMETER
(a)
Using
a
speedometer tester, inspect the speedometer
for allowable indicating error
and
check operation ol
the odometer.
NOTE : Tire wear and tire over or under inflation
w;n
inc,rease indication error.
(b) Check the speedometer for pointer vibration and
abnormal noises.
NOTE: Pointer vibration can
be
caused by a

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION OF TACHOMETER
(a) Connect a tune-up test tachometer and start
lf>e
engine.
(b) Compare the tester and tachometer indications.
If
the error is excessive, replace the tachometer.
CAUTION:
• R.-.ing the connection of t he tachometer will
~
the transinorS and diodes inside.
• When removing or innalling the tachometer, be
catoful
not to d rop it or subject it to
heevy
shocks.
