TROUBLESHOOTING
GENERAL NOTES
1. Troubles occuring w ith the ECT can
be
caused by either the engine. ECT electrical control or the auto-
matic transmission itself. These three areas should be distinctly isolated before proceeding with
troubleshooting .
2. Troubleshooting should begin wi1h tho simpliest operation, wor· k ing up in order of difficulty, but lnltialty
d etormine whether the trouble lies within the engine, etectricol control or transmission.
3.

Read the diagnostic code I trouble code) from overdrive

dicator light or super monitor display, and perform repairs
aCCOidingly.
Check following:
• Fluid level
• Throttle cable mark
• Shift linkage
• Neutral start switch
• Idling rpm I"N" or "P" range 650 rpml
• Tire inflation pressure
Check
engine.
t orque converter, clutch and
brake.
Check Automa·tk: T ransmis.s.ion Assembly
• Check clutch, brake and gear for wear.
Check valve body and fluid circuit leakage.
Confirm if trouble lies within ATM.
If
noisy or vibrating, cause possibly with eith er comprea:.-
sor. engine. propeller shaft, tires, etc.
