BRAKE SYSTEM - Checks and Adjustments
3. BEGIN BLEEDI NG AIR FROM BRAKE CYLINDER
WITH LONGEST HYDRAULIC LINE
4. CONNECT V INYL TUBE TO BRAKE CYLINDER
BL EEDER PLUG
Insert other end of the tube in a half-full container
of
brake fluid.
6. BLEED BRAKE LINE
(a} Slowly pump the brake pedal several times.
(b) While having an assistant press on the pedal, 100!011
the bleeder plug until fluid starts to runout. Thai
close the bleeder plug.
(c) Repeat this procedure until there are no more lir
bubbles in the fluid.
Bleedlf plug tightening torque:
86 kg-em (74 in.·lb, 8.3 N·m)
6. REPEAT PROCEDURE FOR EACH WHEEL
CHECK AND ADJUSTMENT OF PARKING
BRAKE
1. CHECK THAT PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL IS
CORRECT
Pull the parking brake fever all the way up, and oounttlw
notches of lever travel.
Parking brake levlf travel at 20 kg (44. 1 lb, 196 N):
5 - Sdickl
If incorrect, adjust the parking brake.
2. IF NECESSARY, ADJUST PARKING BRAKE -
NOTE: Before adjusting the parking brake, make 111
that the rear brake shoe clearance has been adjusted.
For shoe clearance adjustment, see step 10 on Rage 8R·30.
(a) Remove the rear console box .
(b) Loosen the lock nut and turn
until the travel is correct.
