NOTE:
• Thoroughly clean all parts to be assembled.
• Before installing the pans. apply new engine oil to all
sliding and rotating surfaces.
• Replac-e ell gaskets. 0-rings and oil seals with new
parts.
INSTALL VALVES
{a) Insert valves in the cylinder head valve gukles. M ake
sure the valves are installed in the correct order.
lbl Install the valve spring seats and new seals.
{c) Install springs and spring retainers on the valves.
{d) Using SST, compress the valve springs and place two
keepers around the valve stem.

(e) Tap the stem lightly to assure proper
f it.
INSPECTION OF CAMSHAFT
1.
MEASURE CAMSHAFT THRUST CLEARANCE
Using a dial gauge. measure t he camshaft
ttl
rust clearance.
Standard clo"'ance: 0.05 - 0.25 mm
(0.0020 - 0 .0098 ln.l
M""lmum clearance: 0.30 mm 10.0118 ln.l
If clearance i.s greater than maximum. replace the camshaft
and/or camshaft housing.
