REAR AXLE AND SUSPENSION -IRS Type Differential
DISASSEMBLY OF DIFFERENTIAL
1. REMOVE Dl FFERENTIAL CARRIER COVER
Remove the eight bolts, cover and gasket.
2. REMOVE SIDE GEAR S HAFT

Using SST, remove the side gear shah from the differential
carrier.

REMOVE S IDE GEAR SHAFT OIL SEAL
Using SST. remove the oil seal.

4. CHECK R ING GEAR RUNOUT
If the
runout is greater lhan maximum, install a new ring
gear.
Max imum runout: 0.07 mm (0.0028 in.)
5.
CHECK R ING GEAR BACKLASH
If the backlash is not within specification. adjust the side
bearing p. r eload or repair as necessary.
