INSPECTION OF OIL PUMP
1.
CHECK
BODY
CLEARANCE OF
DRIVEN
GEAR

Push tho
driven
gear to one side
of
tho body. Using
a
f eel·
er
gauge,
measure the
clearance.
Standard body clearance:
0.07 -
0.15 mm

Maximum
body clearance:
0.3 mm 10.012

If the body
clearance is
greater than the maximum. replace
the
drive gear, driven gear or pump body.
CHECK
TIP CLEARANCE
OF
BOTH
GEARS

easure
between the gear teeth and tho crosont-shaped
part of the pump body.
Standard
tip
clearance:
0.11 - 0.14 mm

Maximum
tip clearance:

If the tip clearance is greater
than
the
maximum, replace
tho
drive gear,
driven
gear or pump body.

CHECK
SIDE CLEARANCE
OF BOTH
GEARS
Using a steel straightedge and a
feeler
gauge, measure
the
side clearance of both
gears.
Standard aide clearance:
0.02

0.05
mm
(0.0008 - 0.0020
ln.)
Maximum
aide clearance:
0
.
1
mm (0.004 ln.)
If
the
side
clearance
is greater than the
maximum,
replace
the drive
gear.

INSPECT
FRONT
OIL
SEAL
Check for wear. damage or cracks.
5.
IF NECESSARY. REPLACE
FRONT
OIL
SEAL

Pry
off the
oil
seal
with a screwdriver.
(b)
Using SST and a hammer,
install
a new oil seal.
Tho
seal
end should be flush w ith
tho
outer
edge
of
the
pump
body.
