10. INSTALL NEW OUTER BEARING AND NEW OUTER
OIL SEAL
(a) Install the bearing.
(bl Using SST, drive in

new oil seal to a depth of 6.0
mm (0.236
in.l.
SST 09950-2201 1 (09550-00020, 09550-00050)
(c)
Apply MP gre. a se No. 2 to the oil seal lip.
INSTALLAT ION OF REAR AX LE SHAFT

1. INSTAll REAR AXLE SHAFT AND FLANGE
(a) Install the rear a.le shaft into the housing.
(b) Install the flange with plate washer.
NOTE: Before assembly, apply a thin coat of grease to
the flange.
(c) When installing the axle shift and flange, use SST and
tighten to the point where the flange and shaft
de·
flector tip are aligned.
SST 09557-22022
NOTE: Do not allow grease to get on the shaft threads.
2. ADJUST PRELOAD
(a) Install the new axle shaft flange nut.
(b) Using a bar to hold the shaft, tighten and torque the
nut.
Torque: 400 kg-em (29 ft-lb, 39 N·m)
NOTE : Check that the rear a•le shaft has axial play.
