BRAKE PISTONS

1 . INSTALL NEW 0 -RINGS ON REACTION SLEEVE ANO
PISTONS
CAUTION: The thinner 0 -<lng goes on the outside oltht
reaction sleeve .

INSTALL INNER AND OUTER PISTONS IN REACTION
SLEEVE
(a) Push t ho inner piston into the cupped side of the reac-
tion sleeve .
(bl Push the outer piston onto
the
other side of the reac-
tion sleeve.

INSTAll PISTONS AND SLEEVE IN CASE
CAUTION:

careful not to damage the 0 -rings.
Hold the assembly with the outer piston upward (spring
seats visible I, and push the assembly into its bore in the
case.
4 . INSTALL SST BASE UNDER CASE

INSTALL SIXTEEN PISTON RETURN
SPRINGS AND SET
RETAINER WITH SNAP RING IN PLACE

NOTE: The springs are visible through the cutout in
the
case. which hel ps position them more easily.
COMPRESS PISTON RETURN SPRINGS TO ALLOW
INSTALLATION OF SNAP RING
CAUTION: Do not overtighten tho bolt and bend
lhe
spring retainer.
(a) Carefully position the spring comprassor oothe Sjlting
retainer.
(bl Gradually and evenly tighten the bolt to compress
the
springs, being careful not to damage the transmlssicn
case w ith SST.

INSTALL SNAP RING
(a) Push the ring in to place with your fingers. Visualy
check to make sure it is fully seat ed and centered by
the three lugs on the spring retainer.
(b) Remove the SST.
